Entry #10: Egypt

Who doesn't want to visit the pyramids? One of my good friends from when I was young is from Egypt and I have always wanted to go! When I lived in England, we studied Ancient Egypt and it was so fascinating.

As you can guess, the main reason why I want to visit Egypt is to go see all the ancient monuments discovered. Also as my family used to watch the mummy every other Saturday night when we were little, I feel in love with the desert and the history.

I have already ridden a horse and a donkey so why not add to the animals and ride a camel too! Last year the World Championship for Lifesaving was in Egypt and some of my friends attended but I wasn't quite involved with the sport like I am now. I hope I get to go there soon!

Next week will be the last week I am posting on my blog before exams! I'm going to think of a really cool place that hopefully you guys will want to visit as well!

Entry #9: Chile

In this entry, I am going to talk about how I want to visit Chile, mainly the Lakes and Volcanoes Region. This region in the heart of Chile has 10 volcanoes, many lakes, white water rivers, and also many national parks and reserves. With research, I have found that there are many activities in this region as well as regions surrounding. There are some hot springs to bathe in, rain forests to zip-line over, rivers to raft in, hike on the glacier volcanoes.

Have you been to Chile? I don't think I know anyone who has visited Chile so it would be interesting to hear some experiences that people have had. I hadn't really been interested in going Chile to recently when I found out about all the activities you can take part in. I really believe that this could be the ultimate trip. It looks phenomenal and the picture to the right demonstrates how beautiful it is. I have been to some hot springs before in Greece but I was too young to appreciate it and remember it. Chiles coastline is the 5th largest in the world meaning that there would be wicked beaches.

I also can't forget to mention the food. I love trying new food from different cultures. Most of the popular dishes tend to include some meat or seafood and I would be willing to try anything.

I have many ideas for my next entry so stay tuned as I will update it shortly!

Entry #8: Germany and Hungary

Growing up in England, I had the opportunity to travel around Europe and see many of the popular sites, but I never had the chance to visit Germany. I think Germany is a really intriguing place, especially with all the history that lies there from the past 100 years. Since many of my family members in the past few generations have been affected by the World Wars, I want to go visit the concentration camps and other historical sites in Germany to see what they went through.

Not only can I visit many places over Germany, I can also head over to Sweden and the other close countries where I can check off more places on my bucket list. This past December, my mother, grandfather and aunt went to Hungary and Germany. They came back with many stories to tell and nothing but good reviews. My family originated partially from hungary which really makes me want to go visit. I still have family members over there and there are many hungarian foods and traditions that we celebrate in our own home. Europe is so beautiful and the top of my bucket list is to visit all the countries in Europe and luckily, I have already made a great start!

Entry #7: Utah

Snowbird Ski Resort
At the Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah, there are two resorts with mountains for snow sports. This winter, I began snowboarding and now I am very interested in snowboarding on different mountains. These two resorts are less than a mile apart but they are very different in character. At the Snowbird resort, it is very family oriented and fun for snowboarding. However, at the Alta mountain, it is more of a traditional skiers mountain.

Alta Ski Resort
I really want to go to the Snowbird mountain especially because it is preferred for snowboarders and since I just started, I'm not that good. I think I'm so interested in snowboarding because my friends and I make it very social and interactive. We always bring different people along and we go down the hill as a group instead of speeding down repeatedly. I wish more of my friends would want to learn so that we could go away to some pretty cool resorts around the world. Either way, I will go to these places and have a time of my life!

With all the travels to warm countries that I am planning on doing, I will need a nice break from the heat and I will have to come snowboard at these beautiful places. There has to be other things to do in Utah as well, right?

Entry #6: Peru

A few years ago, some of my friends in high school and I became really interested in the wonders of the world. We were uncertain about all of the different destinations and one in particular really caught our eyes, Machu Picchu. Not only is this attraction very historical,  it is possibly also getting closed to the public.

Machu Picchu was home to the Inca in the 15th century. The Inca built their city high in the mountains in Peru which wasn't seen by people at the foot of the mountain. The city was built with the material extracted from the plateau which the city was constructed on.

I really want to go visit Peru for many reasons but the greatest would be to visit Machu Picchu. I have not had the chance to visit any of the wonders of the world, the modern or the original. I also wish to travel to Peru to have the opportunity to volunteer with the orphaned children, to help conserve the rainforest and to help construct homes and schools for the people in need. Even if I don't have the chance to go to Machu Piccu, I sure hope I can visit Peru to help the local people who deserve the life that I have been offered!

I also can't forget to mention all the amazing other attractions to visit! There are so many other attractions involving ancient ruins and chances to see the lives of those in the past. There are so many monuments, cities and museums which are filled with so much information that I wish I could go and visit them all. With all the history, I can still go enjoy the ocean as the water is apparently very beautiful and has lovely waves.

Entry #5: Spain

As I grew up in England, I was very aware of the current events, the weather, and the activities that are endured in the surrounding countries. Luckily for me, I was able to visit many places such as France, the Czech Republic, Greece, and Belgium, just to name a few. However, I never had the opportunity to visit Spain.

With my previous posts, I am sure you have already noticed that I love the warmth and beaches. There are many islands that are a part of spain in both the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. When I eventually visit Spain, I hope it will be in the warmer months of the year and that I will be able to spend a lot of the time on the beach between the times that I will be sightseeing.

In my recollection, England was widely populated with castles, cathedrals, and beautiful historic sights. This seems to be the same with Spain and many places around Europe. I look forward to continue my travels in Europe and hopefully I can come close to visiting all the countries of that continent.

Entry #4: Australia

In 2010, I started lifeguarding with the Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service on the ocean front beaches of Nova Scotia. Every year, one of the lifeguards from Nova Scotia goes down to Australia to lifeguard, and an Australian comes here to lifeguard. Last summer I became really good friends with the Australian who came here and he convinced me to go to Australia.

Not only do I want to go work there for the Australian Exchange, I want to explore the different culture and adventures. How cool would it be to spend a day with Kangaroos and Koalas? Everyone knows Australia as the place where Steve Irwin was from and where he filmed the Crocodile Hunter. I really enjoyed his show as I always believed that he was a hero for working with Crocodiles. I hope that I can go visit the Australian Zoo and learn all about Crocodiles, and other animals too. The lifeguard from Nova Scotia who is currently in Wollongong spends lots of time with the native Australian animals and it seems so awesome!

Another reason why I want to go visit Australia is because of the people having Australian accents. They are so cool because accents help to distinguish the different areas of the world and the various lifestyles people live. Everyone should have Aussie accents!!
