Entry #3: Thailand

Koh Phi Phi, Thailand, was mostly destroyed by the Tsunami that happened in 2004. By 2010, most of the infrastructure had been rebuilt and it is once again an incredible place to visit and that is why it is on my list to visit!

Phi Phi is a group of 6 islands which is located near to Phuket covered in mountains, caves and it is known for the amazing marine life that surrounds the islands. Once again, I want to visit this place because it is warm, there is a lot of surf, and the coral and marine life really amuses me. Not to mention, the long white sand beaches that are all over the 6 islands.

A few years ago when I swam competitively, a few of the older swimmers I swam with travelled to Thailand for the International Children's Games. They got to ride elephants, try new food, and they all agreed that it was the best time of their lives.

I have never been to Asia, and there are many places in the Southeast that I wish to visit, maybe you'll hear about some more in my upcoming posts!

Entry #2: Costa Rica

Next year, or towards the end of this year, my father and I are planning a trip to Costa Rica. I'm really excited for this because so many of my friends have gone there and they have said that it was absolutely magnificent! In this post, I really just want to talk about some of the activities that I am hopefully going to do when I get there starting off with zip-lining through the rainforest.

I don't really know how we first came up with this idea, since all my friends had gone to surf, but this is the main reason why we are going to Costa Rica. My dad has wanted to go there for a really long time and I have wanted to since I knew Costa Rica existed. Not too many people I know have gone zip-lining, except for at Tree-go in New Brunswick so it's definitely going to be a really cool experience.

Another reason why we chose Costa Rica was because my father and I both grew up running and being very adventurous so we want to go hike the mountains and just be our outdoorsy selves. I've always wanted to climb a mountain because you can be famous for that! But really I just want to try as many new things as I can.

This upcoming spring and summer, I surely hope that I get to go out surfing a lot so that when I go on my trip I can surf and won't make too much of a fool of myself like I do at our beaches, not like I care too much! There better not be sharks though!! They're my biggest fear, I am so scared of the ocean, yet it is my favourite place to be and to work!

Entry #1: New Zealand

For each of my blogs, I am going to talk about a different place that I want to visit, and why I want to visit them since one of my biggest passions is for travelling. So for my first entry, I am going to talk about New Zealand!

In grade 2, my teacher went to visit our class pen pals in New Zealand! He spent 2 weeks with them and learnt a lot about their culture and the activities that they enjoy. What I thought was most interesting was that he went bungee jumping over a cliff. Ever since, I have dreamt about going bungee jumping in New Zealand. That is at the top of my bucket list and I am planning to go with my friends after I finish my undergrad!

I am also very interested in the native people of New Zealand, the Maori, their language and the beautiful and intriguing landscape. The life of those in New Zealand seems to be very different than most people's in Canada and I think it is absolutely incredible how different the countries are all around the world.
